Sore Throat Natural Remedies: 13 Best Options For Relief

Baking Soda Gargle

Like saltwater gargle, baking soda gargle is another helpful home remedy that can ease the pain from a sore throat. A baking soda gargle also shares similar benefits to a saltwater gargle, such as preventing the growth of fungi and killing bacteria. Aside from this, using a baking soda gargle can soothe the discomfort in the throat, break up the build-up of mucus, and even soothe the throat irritation due to acid reflux.

To make a baking soda solution for gargling, prepare half a teaspoon of baking soda and add it to a full glass of warm water, or around 8 ounces. Mix the solution well until the baking soda is fully dissolved in the water. Similar to the saltwater gargle, use the baking soda solution for gargling for a few seconds, but do not swallow it. Gargling with baking soda solution can be done at least once an hour. Letting children try baking soda gargle as a natural home remedy solution for sore throat is also not advisable.
