Facial Pressure and Pain
Sinus infection can also cause facial pain and pressure. Various sinuses are located in the face, and one is situated under the eyes and behind the nose. All the sinuses are cavities filled with air and can become painful due to a sinus infection. Meanwhile, an infection can cause the sinuses to become swollen and inflamed, resulting in dull pressure and ache.
A person experiencing facial pain and pressure from a sinus infection will feel pain in the forehead, between the eyes, one side of the nasal passage or both sides, teeth, cheekbones, and upper jaws. Sudden head movement can also make facial pain worse.
A persistent sinus infection, sinus swelling, and facial pressure can also bring on headache symptoms. Usually, facial pain and pressure are worse in the morning because fluids accumulate throughout the night.
To relieve facial pressure and pain caused by sinus infection, administer a warm compress to the face. Using saline nasal drops, spray, or decongestant can also help reduce congestion and swelling, which contribute to pain and pressure in the face if not addressed.
