Bad Breath
Sinus infection can lead to bad breath. The main culprit for this symptom is mucus. The mucus that lives in infected sinuses has a foul odor. The sinuses leak infected mucus, which then drips down behind the throat.
Then, the smell from the infection spreads to one’s breath when it comes into contact with the air they exhale. Although bad breath doesn’t seem concerning, it could affect someone’s confidence and quality of life. For this reason, it is vital to address it along with the cause of sinus infection.
A person with a sinus infection will continue to have bad breath until the infection is treated. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the odor while treating its root cause. Among those is good oral hygiene. Use toothpaste with fluoride for brushing for two minutes twice every day. Then daily floss at least once. Make sure that when brushing, clean the tongue and the roof of the mouth. It also helps to use mouthwash.
To speed up the process of eliminating bad breath caused by sinus infection, prioritize clearing up the infection using over-the-counter remedies like nose sprays, throat lozenges, or acetaminophen.
