Forward Pigeon Pose
If you suffer from sciatic pain, you’re not alone. Sciatica affects millions of people and can be both debilitating and frustrating. The good news is that you can do some simple things at home to ease the pain. One of those things is practicing yoga.
Yoga is a great way to stretch and strengthen the muscles that support the spine. When those muscles are strong and flexible, they take pressure off the sciatic nerve, which can help relieve pain.
Many different yoga poses can help ease sciatic pain. One of the most popular ones is Forward Pigeon Pose. To get into this pose, start in downward facing dog. Then, bring your right knee toward your right wrist and rest your shin on the mat. If this is enough stretch, stop and hold the position for 30 seconds to one minute.
For a deeper stretch, place your elbows on the mat in front of your right foot and lean forward until you feel a stretch in your right hip and glute. Hold this position for 30 seconds to one minute before returning to downward Ffacing dog and repeating on the other side.
