Knee-to-Opposite Shoulder
There are many treatments for sciatica, but one of the most effective is the knee to the opposite shoulder. This stretch helps to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve by stretching the muscles and ligaments around it.
The knee-to-opposite shoulder stretch is a simple stretch that can be done at home without equipment. Follow the instructions below to perform knee to the opposite shoulder and help alleviate sciatica pain.
Lie on your back on a flat surface, both knees bent. Slowly bring your right knee up towards your chest and grab the right ankle with your right hand. Pull your right leg towards your chest until you feel a stretch in your hamstring. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds before slowly releasing your leg and repeating on the other side. Once completed on both sides, you can increase the intensity of your stretch by placing a towel or strap around your foot before pulling your leg towards your chest. Perform this stretch two to three times per day for superior outcomes.
