Improves Fever Blister Recovery
Fever blisters, or cold sores, are lesions that form on the nostrils, lips, cheeks, or chin. They may also appear on the mouth’s roof or gums, although with less frequency. Characterized by the burning sensation or itching they cause before bursting and crusting over, fever blisters are often the result of specific conditions, with the most common being HSV. There’s no cure for cold sores yet, but there are things that can be done to prevent their occurrence or reduce the duration and frequency of outbreaks.
Cold sores tend to develop in different stages, especially when they reoccur. Usually, it begins with burning, itching, or tingling sensations around the area of the mouth, followed by fluid-filled and painful sores. When the blisters break, they produce fluid, and yellowish crusts begin to form on them. Once the crust eventually comes off, it reveals pinkish skin that usually heals between three to four days.
Outbreaks usually heal in one to two weeks without medical treatment. However, over-the-counter medication may speed it up. Additionally, reishi mushrooms can shorten the duration of episodes, speeding up recovery while reducing the pain and discomfort that the condition causes due to its potent antiviral and antibacterial properties.
