Sugar Cravings
One of the hallmarks of good health is a good blood glucose level. Blood glucose is the sugar in your bloodstream and the body’s main energy source. The bloodstream brings glucose to various organs throughout the body and keeps them functioning optimally. Keeping the blood glucose level within the right range is critical to maintaining the person healthy and free from diabetes and other lifestyle diseases. If the blood sugar falls below or increases too much above acceptable levels, complications will arise.
Foods rich in protein and fat don’t digest easily compared to carbohydrate-rich food. If you don’t eat enough protein and consume more carbohydrates through eating meat, there’s a significant chance that it will be digested faster, causing blood sugar to rise. Once the blood sugar spikes, the trend is for the glucose to drop and for people to crave sugars that are unhealthy for the body. When people crave sugar, the brain tells them to choose unhealthy, savory food, which can greatly affect overall health and well-being.
If the body craves sugar, it’s recommended to snack on fruits such as apples, mangoes, and grapes. Yogurt, dark chocolate, eggs, and sugar-free soda are easy alternatives.
