Wet Skin
Wet or moist skin is beneficial to the body. Moisture keeps the skin hydrated, making it look smoother, younger, and healthier. However, when the outermost layer of the skin doesn’t have enough water, it loses its elasticity, and roughness is felt on the skin.
Keeping the skin wet may contribute many benefits to the body, but it can also harm the body as it welcomes and shelter bacteria, germs, and viruses. These harmful invaders are known to like areas that are moist and wet. Unfortunately, the body is no different from this type of environment.
Having wet or damp skin may cause the body to attract viruses such as the human papillomavirus, which is the leading cause of plantar warts. The infection is easier since the skin is already wet. This makes the body friendlier towards these viruses as it holds onto the skin. Studies show that people working or exposed to wet places are more prone to having plantar warts. This is why experts always highlight the importance of thoroughly cleaning the skin after a long day of work.
