What Are The Triggers Of Petechiae? 10 Common Causes

Prolonged Straining

Coughing, vomiting, crying, childbirth, and weightlifting are some of the most common causes of strain-induced petechiae. Such activities that cause straining or put pressure on an area of the body usually cause the appearance of rash-like blood rupture spots. These spots appear because of overexertion resulting in broken blood vessels, usually around the eyes and on the face, neck, and chest.

Note that petechial rashes caused by prolonged straining are generally harmless. They disappear and heal in days unless other underlying pathological conditions cause the rashes to appear, persist, or spread quickly over the entire body. Though these non-blanching spots resulting from vascular bleeding due to physical straining are generally not something that qualifies as a great cause for concern, it is imperative to check what is causing them to appear in the first place so they can be addressed accordingly. After all, some of the petechiae’s causative conditions or diseases can be serious and even life-threatening when neglected or ignored for too long.
