Bloating
On top of swollen breasts, women may experience overall bloating around the time of ovulation. One may feel like her clothes have become smaller, or her pants don’t fit like they usually do. Again, changes in levels of hormones come to play at this time and may affect the body’s water retention. Aside from this, some may have particular cravings that may also affect eating habits at that time of the month. For example, one might find herself craving salty foods such as chips, cheese, dips, and processed foods. This may further contribute to water retention, feeling bloated, and weight gain.
Some may also experience changes in their bowel movement during this time. For some, constipation may further aggravate the feeling of bloatedness. Bloating may be described as a feeling of increased pressure in the abdominal and breast area without necessarily observing an increase in actual size.
Bloating can also lead to feeling sluggish throughout the day. Therefore, one may opt to avoid eating salty foods and increase water intake to lessen the extra weight gain during ovulation.
