Bladder Cancer
Bladder cancer is a disease that causes an overactive bladder and many other symptoms. This medical condition can be benign or malignant, with the latter resulting in life-threatening complications when left untreated. Bladder cancer is more prevalent in men than women. It is the fourth most common cancer in men.
People with bladder cancer will notice a change in their urination habits. The need to urinate more than usual is a characteristic symptom in patients who have developed an overactive bladder due to bladder cancer. Specifically, they may feel a stop-and-start flow pattern when urinating. In addition, an overactive bladder is sometimes coupled with a burning sensation during urination.
It is imperative for bladder cancer patients to receive treatment as soon as possible to alleviate an overactive bladder. The type of medication or therapy to manage an overactive bladder in bladder cancer patients will depend on the findings after undergoing diagnostic examinations. The overactive bladder will usually subside when the underlying causes of cancer cell proliferation are treated effectively.
