Nausea and Vomiting
Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms of ovarian cysts. According to a study published in the Journal of Women’s Health, nausea occurs in about 68 percent of patients with ovarian cysts, and vomiting occurs in about 20 percent. The cause of nausea is the cyst’s pressure on the digestive tract. The cause of vomiting is usually the same as nausea; it may also be caused by an infection, blockage, or inflammation in the digestive tract.
This symptom happens because the hormones in the cyst can affect your digestive system and gastrointestinal tract. The cysts may also be present in your fallopian tubes or abdominal cavity. In some cases, the cysts compress your intestines and cause pain in the lower abdomen, leading to nausea and vomiting.
