Avoid Alcoholic Products
Alcoholic products can increase the risk of thrush. If you have oral thrush, avoid alcoholic products as much as possible. While drinking is not directly linked to oral thrush, it’s still important to know that drinking alcohol can make an existing case of thrush worse. So, it is still best to avoid alcoholic beverages as much as possible. If you are a chronic drinker, replace alcohol with a non-alcoholic beverage, like tea. If this is not an option, there are other ways to minimize the damage.
First, wash down any foods with alcohol on them with a large amount of water (preferably warm) and then only eat something. You can swish some water around your mouth for about 20 seconds after drinking something alcoholic. This will help cleanse the mouth and decrease the amount of time that alcohol spends in your mouth. Finally, try sucking on sugar-free candies during meals and drinks with no alcohol.
