Lowers Risk for Some Cancers
Cancer is one of the most feared health conditions in the world and one of the leading causes of death in America. And fish oil supplements or having enough omega-3 fatty acids in the diet supposedly help people lower their risks for certain cancers, particularly colon, prostate, and breast cancer.
Unfortunately, not all studies give the same results, and it is still quite unclear how omega-3 impacts tumor development. However, what is known for sure is that omega-3 fatty acids should be part of everyone’s diet, given all their promising benefits to well-being, including their ability to strengthen one’s defenses against cancer.
Omega-3 fatty acids are not occurring naturally in the body and may only be obtained through food and supplement intake. The most recommended sources of omega-3 include seafood, flaxseed oil, and kidney beans. At least four servings of loaded sources should be in everyone’s diet to take advantage of its cancer-preventive benefits. Otherwise, taking supplements is advisable.
