Indecisiveness
Even making small decisions can be challenging for those with OCPD since perfection is crucial. Because of this, they may experience indecisiveness and delayed decision-making. Most aim to ensure that no errors occur in any area of life. Therefore they put a lot of pressure on themselves and others to be perfect. Because of the difficulty in making consistently good decisions based on their perception, they often report feeling dissatisfied.
In addition, the implications of indecision on one’s education, career, and personal life may be severe. Some may have trouble procrastinating and setting specific goals aside from achieving perfection. As a result, they avoid making steps in their education or professional careers, which can make their personal lives stagnant.
Furthermore, extreme indecisiveness associated with OCPD is also detrimental in relationships, especially in marriages. Spouses can have trouble finding common ground since the OCPD partner have unreasonably high expectations.
On the other hand, those who suffer from OCPD can be easily offended and humiliated and has difficulty taking constructive criticism. They may consider this and spend a tremendous amount of time avoiding mishaps and criticisms. However, this decision-making avoidance strategy may breed hostility, rage, and depression.
