13 Symptoms Of OCPD (Early Warning Signs)

Rigidity

Due to their pursuit of perfection, persons with OCPD tend to be inflexible and unyielding in their actions, requiring that everything be carried out in a particular manner. they often act alone in their pursuits because they distrust the assistance of others due to their desire to be in charge. This unyielding rigidity may annoy coworkers and colleagues if it involves extensive planning without regard for change.

The overwhelming urge to do things a certain way is often unsupported by facts or logic. Objection to trivial and profound choices may result in lengthy debates; yet, even if a person with OCPD cannot adequately defend their stance, they staunchly adhere to their convictions.

In interpersonal connections, OCPD may be challenging due to its rigidity. Expressions of love are often carefully regulated, with exchanges seeming stiff and formal. They are highly self-critical, applying rigorous moral standards to themselves and others, and tend to be intolerant of others’ emotional or expressive behavior.

Furthermore, for them, vulnerability is considered a means of adversely exposing oneself to rejection. However, one prevalent feeling in persons with OCPD is that anger tends to be spontaneously and excessively expressed. In addition, their apparent emotional flatness is usually misinterpreted.
