Physical Trauma
Human nipples have particular nerves that are very sensitive to the touch. As a result, men and women may experience nipple pain after exposure to physical trauma. For example, trauma to the nipples may result from sexual intercourse, piercing, or tattoos.
Rough foreplay, too much friction, biting, and sucking of nipples while participating in sexual activity may lead to sore breasts and painful nipples. Body friction, as mentioned above, can cause blistering and cuts. The use of unsafe sex toys may also cause trauma to the nipples. Minor injuries are temporary and often heal after a while. However, deep cuts, drastic changes in color, and too much inflammation of the nipples after sexual intercourse is not normal and requires immediate medical attention.
Trauma caused by piercing can also lead to nipple pain and infection. In addition, body piercing, if not done correctly, triggers the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms. Therefore, patients should monitor their piercings and check for signs of inflammation, pus-like discharge, and soreness. The same is true after tattooing around the breasts, near the nipple area.
