The 10 Causes of Nipple Pain You Should Be Aware Of

Sunburn

One of the most unusual reasons for nipple pain is sunburn. According to studies, people who love to go topless while sunbathing or tanning often forget to take good care of their nipples. For example, only one percent of topless sunbathers apply sunscreen on their nipples, leaving the 99 percent more prone to a painful sunburn.

Nipples are sensitive parts of the male and female anatomy. Exposure to too much natural and artificial light may lead to flaky skin and itchiness. Failing to protect the nipples and the surrounding area from the sun also increases the risk of developing skin cancer and other skin conditions. Going fully naked on a tanning bed can also cause harm to the skin around the nipples, causing extreme pain and tingling sensations.

Experts advised everyone to wear sunscreen and limit their exposure to the sun to avoid nipple pain. Over-the-counter ointments and soothing gels may also help alleviate the nipple pain caused by sunburn.
