Myocarditis: 14 Best Ways To Treat (According to Professionals)

Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD)

Ventricular assist devices (VAD) assist the heart in pumping blood from the ventricles. These devices are known as mechanical circulatory support devices. VAD  must be implanted to help the heart pump well. Since myocarditis can worsen due to irregular heartbeat and worn-out muscles, VAD can help patients.

A VAD is implanted in the chest through an operation. It assists the heart muscle in contracting and relaxing in odor for the blood to be pumped from the lower left heart chamber to the different parts of the body. These ventricular assist devices operate through a control unit and battery pack outside the body.

Due to the lesser work, the myocardium is relaxed, giving it more time to regulate its function. Some people decide to get ventricular assist devices because of a failing heart, but primarily because of myocarditis. Patients with weakened or malfunctioning hearts may also benefit from having a VAD.
