Lack of Sleep
Sleep is one of the body’s fundamental functions to replenish and recharge. It allows the body and mind to regain strength and increase alertness. A healthy amount of sleep is significant for the brain as it strengthens brain plasticity or adaptability in processing information. Sufficient sleep will prompt the body to reduce the risk of depression, seizures, migraines, and high blood pressure. It also boosts the immune system and metabolism.
When sleep is insufficient, the body reacts by malfunctioning. This causes muscle twitching in some cases. Deprivation of sleep affects the neurotransmitters in the brain. It overstimulates the nerves, causing them to signal the muscle to move or twitch mistakenly.
When the nerves are overstimulated, it causes the central nervous system havoc. This condition is similar to drinking coffee. When the nerves are sated, they signal the muscles to move involuntarily or to twitch. The effects of lack of sleep in the muscles are enormous as it targets the neurotransmitter receptors that control muscle function.
