Cold Hands and Feet
Trying to figure out if you or someone you know has meningitis can be challenging due to the similarity of symptoms with other illnesses. The good news is some very specific symptoms can work to help you figure out if it happens to be meningitis. Some of these symptoms include confusion or cold hands/feet. The latter is crucial, as not many common illnesses will have cold hands and feet as one of the symptoms. However, when paired with a severe headache and confusion, it paints a clearer picture of the sickness.
It’s a good thing, as meningitis can be life-threatening if left untreated for even a few days. Depending on the type of meningitis, the odds of a fatality can rise, which is why it’s best to act quickly to help minimize the risk. It can affect newborns (who are most likely to suffer from meningitis) and older children and adults. Surprisingly enough, the odds of a fatality from meningitis are lowered for older children but rise again for adults. As such, cold hands/feet offer a clearer picture that it might be meningitis.
