For example, magnesium is necessary for muscle relaxation and may help anyone lose weight by increasing their metabolism and reducing food cravings.
In one study published in the journal Obesity Reviews, researchers found that taking magnesium supplements (about 340 milligrams per day) was associated with more significant weight loss than a placebo. Another study found that overweight people who took 600-milligram doses of magnesium lost more weight than those who took placebos over six months.
