15 Symptoms & Sign Of Macular Degeneration (Don’t Ignore)

Objects Look Smaller Than Usual

If you notice objects appearing smaller than usual, it’s not just your imagination. The visual system has a built-in mechanism to compensate for this phenomenon. Things look smaller because of the blurriness and loss of peripheral vision associated with macular degeneration.

If an object appears farther away than is the case, a person’s brain will know that it needs to make the image larger to be more easily recognized. Unfortunately, when this process doesn’t work correctly due to macular degeneration, things look small and blurry instead of big and transparent (as they should).

The optical system in the eye is designed to focus light rays onto the retina. This happens about 20 feet from an object in normal vision. When myopia, the eyes can’t get close enough to focus clearly on things farther away. This is why everything looks blurry.
