Stiff Neck
A stiff neck is a common symptom of Lyme disease caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. However, it can also be caused by other conditions, such as an injury or infection. If you have a stiff neck for more than 24 hours, you must see a doctor to rule out the possibility of Lyme disease or another cause.
A stiff neck may be caused by trauma to the neck region, such as whiplash from an accident or sports injury. In these cases, a trauma-related condition will most likely not clear up without medical treatment and may worsen over time if left untreated.
