Wheezing
Wheezing is a whistling sound that occurs when a person breathes in. This happens because the bronchial tubes are inflamed and swollen. Wheezing can be mild or severe. It’s a sign of an infection in the lower respiratory tract, but it’s not always present when symptoms are experienced. If wheezing occurs with other signs of respiratory diseases, such as cough or fever, it means they have pneumonia (an inflammation of the lungs).
It is often caused by asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, wheezing can also signify an even more serious lung problem. So, if a person experiences wheezing, it’s essential to see a doctor immediately to ensure that wheezing is not a sign of something more serious, such as pneumonia.
