Muscle Aches and Pains
Muscle aches and pains are common symptoms of lung infections. Muscle aches can be caused by coughing, which causes air to move through the lungs and rub against the chest cavity lining. This irritation can cause pain in the muscles, especially in the upper back and shoulders. The pain may be worse when a person coughs or breaths deeply, bends over or stretches, and sometimes even when lying down.
Chest pain is another common symptom of lung infections. Chest pain can be caused by the same factors that cause muscle aches, such as coughing and breathing deeply. However, it may also signify more serious conditions, such as pneumonia or pleurisy.
