Convulsions
Convulsions, or seizures, are a symptom of low sodium. So if a person has convulsions due to low sodium, they should know that it’s not their fault and it’s a common disorder that must be addressed.
The key to avoiding convulsions is being aware that they can strike at any time and ensuring one has enough water in the system to prevent them from happening.
If they experience a seizure because of low sodium, call 911 immediately. Make sure the person has an emergency contact listed on their driver’s license or ID card; if they don’t have one, then write down the information so that those first responders can reach their loved ones during this crisis.
