Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is a digestive disorder that damages the small intestine, making it unable to absorb nutrients like magnesium from food. In addition, celiac disease causes an immune reaction to gluten and other proteins (such as casein) found in wheat and other grains. This reaction can cause minor intestine inflammation, leading to diarrhea, weight loss, and nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, a person with celiac disease must follow a lifelong gluten-free diet to avoid symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and gas problems (flatulence).
