What Could Cause Low Lymphocytes? 14 Possible Triggers (List)

DiGeorge Syndrome

DiGeorge syndrome is a rare disorder that affects the development of the heart and facial bones. It also causes learning disabilities, low lymphocytes, immune system problems, and abnormally shaped kidneys.

DiGeorge syndrome has three main features: no thymus gland (a tumor or abnormal growth of tissue in the chest cavity), absent parathyroid glands (small glands that make hormones necessary for blood calcium levels), and hypocalcemia (a low level of calcium in the blood).

Other symptoms may include abnormal facial features, heart problems, short stature, and skeletal abnormalities such as a curved spine and shortened long bones in arms or legs.
