Restless Leg Syndrome
Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is a disorder that causes an unpleasant tingling or creeping sensation in the legs, usually when they are at rest. The discomfort can be relieved by moving the limbs and may occur only when sitting or lying down. It typically worsens at night, when it’s dark, and improves with exercise.
RLS can often be treated with iron supplements. However, some evidence is that taking extra iron might make RLS worse in some people.
RLS is most common in pregnant or breastfeeding women and people over 50. It’s also more likely to affect people with iron deficiency anemia or other conditions that cause poor blood circulation in their legs.
