Feeling Cold
Feeling cold can be a sign that the body needs more iron. For example, if a person feels cold and notices that their skin is pale, these are both symptoms of anemia. Anemia can be caused by low ferritin levels, which often occurs in women who have heavy periods (menorrhagia) or those who menstruate for the first time at an early age.
Low ferritin can also cause hypothyroidism. This is because the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone, so the metabolism slows down, making a person feel tired. In addition to feeling cold all the time, other symptoms of hypothyroidism include fatigue and weight gain.
