Loss of Consciousness or Passing Out
A loss of consciousness or passing out happens when the brain lacks blood and glucose. First, patients may feel dizzy, disoriented, and confused. They can also experience blurred vision, cold sweats, and numbness. People who lose consciousness won’t be able to respond to stimuli and won’t be aware of their surroundings.
Hypoglycemia deprives the brain of using the right amount of blood sugar. Patients with severe cases of hypoglycemia can pass out all the time. It means the brain is shutting down due to a lack of fuel or glucose. This condition can even lead to coma and, in worse cases, death.
If a person is diabetic or hypoglycemic, they should be cautious and mindful of the symptoms to avoid further complications. Sugary snacks can save a person from passing out. However, regular monitoring of blood glucose levels and proper medication is still the best way to prevent these situations.
