Liver Cancer
It’s not unusual for people to experience pain in their lifetimes. Whether it’s a paper cut, a broken bone, or something more serious, pain is a way for our bodies to tell us that something isn’t right. But what happens when the pain is because of liver cancer? What could be causing this type of pain and where is it located?
There are two types of liver cancer. Primary liver cancer starts in the cells of the liver, while secondary liver cancer begins in another part of the body and then spreads to the liver. While both types of liver cancer can cause pain, secondary liver cancer is more likely to do so because it tends to spread quickly and extensively throughout the organ.
As secondary liver cancer grows, it presses against nearby blood vessels and nerves, which can cause pain. The pressure exerted on these blood vessels can also lead to a build-up of fluid in the abdomen, which can contribute to abdominal pain. In some cases, the tumor may also rupture, leading to even more severe liver pain.
