Vomiting Blood
Vomiting is a symptom more often accompanied by nausea or stomach upset. It comes after the feeling of uneasiness in the abdomen occurs. People usually experience forcible, involuntary throwing up or emptying of the stomach to the mouth when the stomach is under distress.
There could be a lot of reasons for nausea and vomiting. They are common symptoms that may indicate several conditions. However, if vomiting is tinged with blood, whether it is bright red or similar to coffee grounds in appearance, there is a reason to suspect liver disease, leading to liver failure.
Patients with cirrhosis who are at the end stage commonly vomit blood because circulation can’t go through the liver properly. This results from increased blood pressure into the fragile vessels, which may burst and cause internal bleeding.
Vomiting blood is a medical emergency, even if the patient has no signs or symptoms of liver failure. It is an alarming sign of internal bleeding that could become life-threatening. Any tinge of blood in vomit is never normal.
