Malaise
Though closely associated with fatigue, malaise, or the general feeling of being unwell, it is yet another sign of liver damage. In addition, it is a known precursor to many health problems. It is typically characterized by a sudden or gradual feeling of overall weakness, discomfort, or illness, coupled with the body’s inability to restore the sense of health and well-being despite getting enough and proper rest.
As a symptom of liver damage, malaise may result from acquiring the either acute or chronic liver disease. However, like fatigue, malaise may also stem from many possible causes, including but not limited to lifestyle factors, illnesses, and even selected medications. Having said that, because the general feeling of being unwell (malaise) can be associated with any health problems and be a resulting symptom, it is complicated to rely on this symptom alone to determine that a patient is already suffering from liver damage.
