Spinal Lesion
A spinal lesion, also known as a tumor, is an abnormal growth surrounding the spinal column and cord. There are instances where tumors are cancerous and need to be dealt with as soon as possible, but there are also situations where they might be non-cancerous. That said, a tumor that appears around the spinal cord can be dangerous as it starts to press against sensitive areas. When around the spinal cord, a tumor can get to the point where it causes weakness in the legs, even causing paralysis in difficult situations. For the most part, a spinal lesion can cause chronic back pain, which you’ll notice before your leg weakness.
Whether cancerous or non-cancerous, it’s best to have the spinal lesion removed through different means (surgery, radiotherapy, etc.), as it could end up causing all sorts of problems if left unchecked. In addition, it’s crucial that a doctor checks any strange growth or mass to ensure that it’s not going to cause issues. Otherwise, what you thought was a benign or harmless lesion or tumor could eventually turn into something much worse. As such, it’s better to air on the side of caution with lesions.
