Potassium deficiency is a rare condition where your blood potassium is affected enough that it gets lower than 3.5mmol per liter, resulting in general weakness of various body parts, including the leg, and numbness. Potassium deficiency, known as hypokalemia, affects those who neglect a balanced diet. Foods containing potassium include dried fruits, beans, bananas, avocados, spinach, and even potatoes. This is why potassium deficiency is exceedingly rare, as most people will get potassium in their system even when they don’t realize it. Therefore, you’d have to make quite the effort to ensure you don’t get enough potassium over a prolonged period.
As such, people with potassium deficiency already have trouble absorbing specific vitamins and minerals. Even if they might try to get more potassium in the system, you’ll still suffer from hypokalemia if the body is having trouble absorbing it. Potassium deficiency is exceedingly rare, and those with the condition likely have underlying issues. You’ll probably suffer more than leg weakness at that point, so it’s a good idea to get to the doctor ASAP.
