Stroke
A stroke is a particularly distressing cause of leg weakness, where the brain isn’t getting enough of its usual blood supply due to a blockage. However, a stroke can also occur if a blood vessel in the brain bursts for one reason or another. The result is a slew of symptoms that must be considered carefully to determine if you’re having a stroke. Leg weakness is just one of many potential symptoms, so it’s a good idea to go over them quickly and carefully. For example, if one side of your face droops and you seem to have trouble speaking, these are telltale signs of a stroke, and it’s best to get medical attention as soon as possible.
Of course, not every case of leg weakness will end up with a stroke, so there’s little to worry about if leg weakness is the only symptom. However, ignoring other signs and symptoms is not a good idea, as your life’s on the line. Those who receive treatment as early as possible are far more likely to avoid the long-term complications of a stroke.
