Natural Diuretics
Not all people know that the different food or beverages they are consuming have a diuretic effect. This causes increased passing of urine. Though this may seem harmless at first, if too much is consumed without rehydrating with water, it leaves the body dehydrated and susceptible to leg cramps.
One of the most common beverages that have a diuretic effect is coffee and tea. Though it energizes the body through caffeine, it also depletes the amount of water in the body through its diuretic effect.
Other foods that have diuretic effects are parsley, watermelon, grapes, berries, asparagus, and bell peppers. However, unless these are the only food consumed throughout the day, eating these foods are harmless.
During busy days, people often drain their energy and try to reenergize through caffeine. However, water is often forgotten, and the body is left dehydrated. Some may even result in just drinking coffee throughout the day. Though drinking coffee may not be avoidable in most people’s daily lives, it may be essential to try to cut back on it and be more mindful of rehydration.
