Working long hours in a desk job or different work-from-home setups often leave people with sedentary lifestyles wherein one usually only gets to stand and walk around during lunch breaks. As a result, people often overlook long periods while sitting down when busy. This may make the legs more susceptible to cramps.

Aside from sitting for long periods of time, the position and posture may also contribute to possible leg cramps. For example, sitting with the legs crossed or with the toes pointed can strain your quadriceps, calves, or feet, which may result in cramps.

An excellent way to avoid this is by taking a 3 or 5-minute break every hour to walk around and stretch the legs. A quick reminder to take a walk to the water cooler and back to the workstation during a work shift will do a lot for your legs and posture.

Another option is to invest in an ergonomic chair or a standing desk. Having a standing desk will help stretch out the legs without having to leave the workstation.
