Pain on One or Both Sides of the Body
With a dull and constant ache and pain located under the rib cage, kidney pain is often characterized as pain in one side of the body. Depending on the situation, the pain can radiate to both sides, though it’s not as common. For example, left kidney pain often occurs on the left side, characterized by the same constant and dull ache. Kidney pain also has a habit of radiating, which is why belly pain is also a potential symptom. Those who suffer from kidney pain can more easily pinpoint it due to the nature of the pain compared to other aches in the body. For example, backache can be sharp and tender, while kidney pain is duller and more persistent.
Of course, pain on one or both sides of the body is not enough to tell you that it’s kidney pain. For example, it’s a very common type of pain for those doing cardio on the treadmill or jogging around the neighborhood. That said, if it does occur out of nowhere and is a constant pain, it’s a good idea to get in touch with your doctor if you’re unsure.
