Feeling Extremely Sleepy
Iodine deficiency can cause a person to feel extremely sleepy. Sleepiness is a common symptom of iodine deficiency, and it can be caused by many conditions related to this lack of minerals in the body.
Sleepiness may be a symptom of fatigue, insomnia, sleep apnea (a condition that causes individuals to stop breathing while sleeping), or restless leg syndrome. Sometimes, it may also indicate an underlying health condition such as depression or anxiety disorders.
Iodine deficiency can also cause fatigue, another common symptom of this condition. Fatigue may make it difficult for them to complete daily tasks, and it may lead to feelings of depression and anxiety. If an iodine deficiency causes fatigue, several factors can affect its severity. These include the type of thyroid disease (Hashimoto’s vs hypothyroidism), the age and gender (women tend to be more susceptible than men), and any other medical conditions they have.
