Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is an excellent alternative to over-the-counter products. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties, can soothe the skin, and is an effective moisturizer. Aloe vera also helps with healing, which will help prevent infections from forming after shaving, waxing, or depilating.
A recent study found that aloe vera gel was just as effective at reducing the appearance of razor bumps as a common antibiotic, clindamycin. In addition, alcohol-based aftershaves and anti-acne products can cause irritation and dryness, making the skin more prone to razor bumps.
While aloe vera may not get rid of ingrown hairs altogether, it does provide relief from some of the most common symptoms. If a person wants to try this remedy but doesn’t have any fresh aloe in their fridge (it does expire after about ten days), they can also use store-bought products that contain actual aloe vera gel or juice extractions instead.
