Sore Throat
As the name suggests, sore throats are scratchy, dry, and painful feelings in the area. Throat pain is a common symptom of many different conditions, including flu and fever, accounting for over two percent of primary care adult visits yearly. Exposure to environmental factors, such as dry air and infections, typically causes sore throats. Although uncomfortable, they often go away without requiring medication or hospitalization. They’re also divided into specific categories based on the affected area.
For example, pharyngitis is the soreness of the throat, and tonsillitis is the redness and swelling of your tonsils. Some symptoms of sore throat are feelings of burning, scratchiness, dryness, and irritation of the throat. It may also make the act of swallowing painful. In addition, there are times when pus areas or white patches will appear on your tonsils, and they’re more common for those with strep throat than a virus.
Some symptoms that may accompany sore throat are nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, fever, chills, swollen neck glands, hoarse voice, body aches, headache, and appetite loss. Some home remedies to relieve some of its symptoms are gargling with salt and water, drinking warm liquids, sucking on lozenges, and resting.
