Dizziness
Dizziness is a state involving different sensations, such as feeling weak, faint, unsteady, and lightheaded. It’s associated with the eyes and ears. Thus, it can cause fainting spells. Contrary to what some might think, it isn’t a condition but a symptom of specific disorders. It’s also fairly common to experience dizziness. While it’s not something you should worry about if it happens occasionally, it’s recommended to speak with your doctor if you begin experiencing repeated episodes or prolonged bouts of dizziness.
There are many causes of dizziness, the common ones being dehydration, alcohol abuse, and migraine attacks. Conditions associated with your inner ear can also lead to dizziness since the area regulates balance and sensory movement. It’s also possible for dizzy spells to occur due to specific medications. Some of these include muscle relaxants, antiepileptic drugs, antihistamines, and medicines for blood pressure.
Other potential causes are sudden blood pressure drops, cardiomyopathy, heart attack, arrhythmia, circulation problems, and more. Relieving dizziness is usually a case of treating its cause. For example, if dehydration is causing it, drinking plenty of water should help. On the other hand, if it’s the excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, you should quit drinking or lessen your intake.
