Oregano Oil
Oregano is a widely used herb for cooking, but it is also used in curing diseases such as impetigo. Because of oregano’s active compounds, it is potent with antioxidants, natural antibiotics, and antifungal properties. First is carvacrol; this phenol is found in oregano and can combat harmful bacteria. The second is thymol; this compound is a natural antifungal that fights back toxins. And the third one is rosmarinic acid. This powerful antioxidant protects the skin from harmful free radicals.
Skin infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus are useless against oregano. This is because oregano has natural antibiotics that fight infections in the body. In addition, many studies have been made to prove oregano’s anti-inflammatory and pain-relief properties. For example, an animal study in 2017 demonstrated that oregano oil effectively eases sore aches from impetigo. Another study supports this claim by proving that applying oregano oil can reduce the symptoms and severity of impetigo.
To use oregano oil, dilute three to four drops of oregano oil in a cup of water. Soak cotton pads in it and apply gently to the affected skin. Leave it until it dries. Use daily for better results.
