Fatigue

Fatigue or extreme tiredness is the condition of being extremely tired, lethargic sleepy, or weary and may be caused by several reasons and conditions. It can also encompass mental, physical, and subjective states and is uniquely dependent on the individual. What fatigued for some may be normal for others and vice versa.

Common manifestations of fatigue include weariness, sleepiness, reduced alertness, and irritability. Fatigued people may also lose their appetites, lack intrinsic motivation, and may also show an increased level of digestive stress. However, if fatigue is due to hypoglycemia, it can accompany headaches.

Simply put, someone fatigued due to hypoglycemia lacks the necessary energy levels because there’s insufficient insulin and glucose in the bloodstream. Insulin is necessary to transport glucose throughout the body via the bloodstream. Glucose feeds all organs and is considered the fuel of the body. If there’s not enough insulin, then there’s not enough glucose powering the body. When the body doesn’t have enough glucose, it will suffer and manifest fatigue and lethargy. Dietary changes are necessary for addressing chronic or acute fatigue due to hypoglycemia. They can also try different exercises, such as yoga or aerobics, to ward off fatigue.
