Eases Anxiety
Anxiety is the sense of dread, uneasiness, and fear. Anxiety causes different reactions in people. For example, some people sweat uncontrollably, some shake violently, others feel restless and tense, and others register higher heart rates. In extreme cases, anxiety can also cause people to lose consciousness.
One of the best ways to manage anxiety is to take regular hot baths. People who use hot tubs alleviate symptoms of anxiety. Hot baths activate the individual’s parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the general feeling of peace and relaxation. When immersing in hot water, various body systems adjust to the warming effect of the water, which leads to lower stress levels. For example, the brain signals the adrenal glands to release cortisol which stimulates the flight-or-fight system. When this happens, the body adjusts accordingly, leading to a more relaxed state.
The temperature also calms and cleanses the body, which can lead to a more relaxed state. The hot water also eases the pains and aches. It induces the body to drowsiness leading the body to restful slumber, where the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems once again become balanced.
