Oral Contraceptives
Oral contraceptives for acne treatment contain ethinylestradiol and one of the following hormones: norethindrone, drospirenone, or norgestimate. The FDA has approved four combination oral contraceptives for women who want to use them for birth control. Progestin and estrogen are combined in these products. Utilizing additional acne drugs alongside this treatment during the first few weeks can help since you might not feel the impact of it for a few months.
However, those with a history of breast cancer, blood clots, or high blood pressure may not be able to use oral contraceptives. If you smoke, you should also avoid taking them. Weight gain, breast sensitivity, and nausea are frequent adverse reactions to combination oral contraceptives. Additionally, these medications are linked to an increased risk of breast and cervical cancer and cardiovascular problems.
