Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for humans, but it’s also been found to have various health benefits far beyond the basic requirements.
One of those benefits is yeast infection treatment. Vitamin C has been shown to directly affect Candida albicans, the fungus responsible for most yeast infections. Vitamin C is an antifungal agent that kills Candida cells by altering their cell walls and slowing their growth. In addition to directly killing the Candida cells, vitamin C helps your body defend itself against the infection by stimulating its immune response.
A study found that when people with a yeast infection took 2000 mg of vitamin C daily, 71% were cured within two weeks, as opposed to only 13% or those who didn’t take vitamin C. Therefore, it’s recommended that you take vitamin C and Nystatin, an oral antifungal medication prescribed by doctors to treat yeast infections.
